I initially tried starting my rb25 swap a few weekends ago. It would only crank initially.
We managed to do a little trouble shooting, found out the rail wasnt getting fuel--the fpr was gunked up or not open enough? After that, it still wouldnt start--it was only cranking.
I then began checking voltages at the CAS, injectors, coils, ECCS relay. The CAS was doing its thing properly. The coils were getting juice and sparking. Injectors were clicking.
I then even went as far as doing a compression test and double checking my timing marks. Everything checks out. (my CAS bracket was broken and the key on the ex cam was broken off as well--managed to temporarily fix the bracket and then marked both the CAS and cam area for proper alignment)
I continued to go back over wiring and making sure plugs were in all the way and the appropriate connections were made. Didn't find anything that stuck out or made me wonder.
I decided to crank on it again. Only this time it managed to give way. it ran on a few different occassions in intervals of 30 secs or so only to die out. It even revd up to 2500 rpm after startup and held for a few before dying.

I checked my plugs, turned out they had been flooded and fouled out on me. I replaced those along with a fresh optima battery. I then replaced my alt, battery, and engine grounds and ran them to a grounding plate i had temporarily made.Wired up my tps for the q45 tb. Now i cant get the engine to fire at all without the help of some starting fluid. Even then it will die once it burns off. its runs smooth though ;)

Im having a little bit of a hard time trying to set my fuel pressure though according to the gauge i have (inline with my 300zx tt fuel filter and the rail). I tried setting it by removing the fuel pump relay and putting a jumper pin in and then just turning the key in the 'on' position---all i get are spikes on the gauge and nothing accurate. And when i prime the fuel it fluctuates??wtf

So thats where Im at guys. I've been trying to sort all this out these past few weekends and am narrowing things down--now it seems to come down to fuel and my timing.

next on my list of things to tackle---walbro fp. its neccessary regardless-i was only procrastinating. hah.

any advice guys?
and thanks for reading thru all this

sounds stupid but is are your lines hooked up right?

Are the injectors squirting fuel when u spin the cas?

I've confirmed fuel getting to the rail and whatnot. The injectors are clicking when the CAS is spun by hand..

as far as the injectors actually dumping fuel--they are getting to the plugs, I fouled out my first set of plugs trying to get the puel pressure right..

is there another way to determine whether or not the injectors are dumping?

I guess the next step would be the walbro.
Have you tried disconnecting the maf and starting?

I tried starting it before with the MAF unplugged and there wasnt any change. Its something thats on my list of things to do when i get the walbro put in. Process of elimination... I did measure the voltage at the MAF to see if it was getting power, and it was. whether or not the maf itself is working has yet to be determined...
hopefully this walbro gets here sooner than later.

I got the walbro installed last night.
My CAS replacement bracket also showed up. :)

I tried to start it up today..only wants to crank still. WTF!

I decide to use my trusty starting fluid once again...and it fires up. Will even stay running now where-as before it would die once the ether burned off.

Since i can read the fp gauge during an idle now, i can see that the gauge is reading 20...so i try to adjust it(back the knob off) and it wont change. So i go the other way with it, as soon as theres a pressure change it dies??

hmmm....

Im still having a hard ass time getting the FP set right. am i honestly that retarded!!!

have i mentioned before that i hate having to go to work just as i start to make any type of progress...thankfully tomorrow is saturday and i dont have any OT coming at the moment.
I need to get this stuff sorted out.

Oh and i started it with the maf unplugged and plugged up...

That's weird. What kind of FPR is it?

So is the problem now a hard start problem?

Everyone keeps saying its weird.
I grabbed a nismo type A from a local.

Going to mess around with it a bit today to see what i can come up with.
Yeah. Def a hard start issue now.

After it has been running and warmed up is it easier to restart?

I switched out the nismo unit for the stock unit to see if anything would change.
My gauge now reads a steady 85 psi!!! It wont stay running once the ether burns off, but that is expected with that kinda pressure.

I also discovered I didnt have the blue plug hooked up under the intake manifold-that has since been corrected.

I didnt let it idle for too long yesterday mainly because of the terrible belt squeal i had coming from my alternator lol and the high(1700) rpms, and i dont have my fans wired up yet.

Im going to grab a cheap adjustable fpr to see if that will help with my pressure problem?

Anything I should try?
Thanks
